Sea Bouquets

Sea Bouquets is a photography project seeking beauty in wrack lines.

As the high tide recedes, a wrack line appears. This line of organic matter is composed of seaweed, crustacean shells, kelp and more. To some humans, it’s considered undesirable, sometimes swept away to keep beaches “pristine”. To many seabirds, including some endangered ones like the piping plover, it’s a valuable source of food and nesting materials. Sea Bouquets is my attempt to reframe the perception of wrack lines as trash or visual nuisances into something more beautiful—little treasures sent from the sea for the shore birds.
