Blue-bearded bee-eater (Nyctyornis athertoni)
The Blue-bearded bee-eater is a striking bird found across South and Southeast Asia, including the forests of Vietnam, where it inhabits open woodlands, forest edges, and areas with dense vegetation. Its vivid green plumage and distinctive blue throat feathers make it one of the most colorful birds of the region. It feeds mainly on flying insects, especially bees and wasps, which it catches in midair before returning to a perch. Unlike many bee-eaters, it is often found alone or in small groups, nesting in burrows excavated in earth banks and forest slopes.
Guêpier à barbe bleue (Nyctyornis athertoni)
Le guêpier à barbe bleue est un oiseau remarquable présent en Asie du Sud et du Sud-Est, notamment dans les forêts du Vietnam, où il fréquente les boisements ouverts, les lisières forestières et les milieux riches en végétation. Son plumage vert éclatant et ses plumes bleues distinctives autour de la gorge en font l’un des oiseaux les plus colorés de la région. Il se nourrit principalement d’insectes volants, en particulier d’abeilles et de guêpes, qu’il capture en plein vol avant de revenir se percher. Contrairement à plusieurs autres guêpiers, il est souvent observé seul ou en petits groupes et niche dans des terriers creusés dans les talus et les pentes forestières.
